A brief definition of blogging
Blogging is writing content online on your website and it can be about your personal life, experience, knowledge, or something else.
Understand before start blogging in India
If you are a newbie then it is interesting for you but for an old geek, it may be boring. But if you start earning a good amount from the blog then it can be fruitful for you.
Blogging is more like a hobby than a money-making machine. If you have passion and patience then you definitely succeed in it.
There are a lot of people online who make money from their blogs and share their experiences about blogging but it is not working for you.
You should consider that you have different skillsets and knowledge.
Here my advice for you is that you should focus on the quality of content and not on views or money.
Because you will earn money over time if you are sharing valuable content.
You can try to learn online or from youtube that will definitely help as you can see on my blog it is not that old but I am doing good and learning new things daily and applying them to my blog.
Blogging is a big concept now for many of us and from deep inside we all want to do blogging but with a focus on earning income.
I think if you started in 2000 to 2010 then it is pretty easy to do but now driving traffic is a big concept and many people on the internet give their own opinions or guidance which may or may not apply to us at many points.
You can differ with my view but I am telling the truth before further talking here is a quick guide on how to start a blog
How to Start a new blog in India
Buy a new relevant domain
The first task in starting a blog is to buy a good or relevant domain name or you can select a domain name on your name if it is available and it should be within 15 characters but it is difficult to find it. So try to find a domain name relevant to your topic of content or you can use your name also.
There are many sites where you can search for expired domains that are registered by a person but expired.
Sites like GoDaddy and Namecheap are popular for registering a domain name.
Some Webhosting providers give a free domain with 1 year of hosting but I personally recommend Hostinger.
Buy a Web hosting
The main point you should check when you buy a hosting is its speed because google ranks only those blogs or websites which are load faster, especially on smartphones.
We usually use hosting that is mostly used or recommended you should check on your own and choose the best one.
Bluehost, Hostinger, and GoDaddy are popular in the hosting world and if you want my recommendation then go with Hostinger because it is cheap and fast compared to others.
Set up WordPress
WordPress is popular among bloggers and I recommend using WordPress instead of starting a free blog with the blogger.
Here on WordPress, you have all the control over your blog but on the blogger, all the power is in hands of Google. Google is able to delete your blog any time if you are on blogger.
If you want to stay long with blogging then go with WordPress.
WordPress is easy to use and there are a lot of Plugins available that make blogging a lot easier.
Select your niche
Selecting a niche is a different task for me so I made some different categories on my blog and start producing my content.
Google ranks sites early that have content on a specific niche or you can go with your flow and over time you find what you like to write about.
Start writing content
After all the procedures just start writing content on your blog and share your thoughts on it.
Do not fuss about things like you are not getting indexed on google and viewed or liked by your audience.
You are new and there are more pro players in the market. It takes time to generate a lot of audience around your blog.
Share on social media and other platforms
You are new to blogging so to find the audience you can share your content on social media like Facebook, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Pinterest.
Other tools you can use are Flipboard, SlideShare, Medium, Tumblr, etc.
Some important factors to consider while blogging
You have to write unique and not copy from other blogs.
Sometimes bloggers edit the copied article from other blogs and publish it on their blog that is not good practice because the Google algorithm is smarter than our thinking.
It also makes a bad impact on our blog.
Working on your writing skills that are important to make your audience stay on your blog.
We think that we can write without any training but that is not true.
You can learn from YouTube videos or from other content writers.
You can also see other blogs and read their articles to understand their writing skill.
Everybody has unique writing skills but the basics should be understood first.
Try to share some visual elements and make sure it is your or not copyrighted.
Here I mean the images, sound, or videos.
Make sure your content should be original
SEO is very important for any blog.
SEO means Search Engine Optimization and in WordPress, there are some plugins like Yoast, All in One SEO, Rank Math, and SeoPress that can be used to make your blog SEO friendly.
The theme of the blog plays an important role in SEO.
A good theme should be SEO and mobile-friendly.
The structure of the website is also important and you should design your blog in such a way that everything is easily accessible and its appearance should be appealing.
Sitemap, About, Contact, Privacy policy, and Disclaimer pages are important for any blog.
There are 200+ points that Google bots check on your blog before ranking it.
But we know very few points so do not think about it too much just start writing and make sure you give your 100%. To rank your blog on Google you can read the webmaster guidelines of Google.
Blogging platforms other than WordPress
You can do blogging on Tumblr, Medium, Squarespace, Wix, Blogger, Joomla, and Weebly.
Blogger is free to use tool for blogging by Google and it gives you a free domain name with a blogspot.com extension.
WordPress gives control over your blog but it may be difficult for many newcomers.
Medium and Tumblr are the platforms that are easy to use and have subscriptions for income to their creators.
